'''“SUNS” - Secure Ubiquitous Networks and Services'''

Localization algorithms for BLE networks based on '''artificial intelligence''' will be explored in depth. They promise great accuracy even with a small number of detectors, optimizing the balance between energy efficiency and precision of the results.

The project pursues '''edge network models''' and '''“first mile” services''', i.e. proximity services such as localization and interpersonal communications, based on Bluetooth devices to complement Wi-Fi ones, improving energy efficiency, social and environmental sustainability, and reducing economic barriers related to digital access.

Compared to Wi-Fi devices, BLE devices have reduced energy consumption and a lower cost. Their adoption allows:
* Ricerca
* Social sustainability: Cheaper devices broaden the audience of users who can access services.
* Sperimentazione
* Environmental sustainability: Lower energy consumption reduces the requirements for the electricity grid and at the same time the environmental impact.
* Trasferimento tecnologico
These new models of digital services and infrastructures, resilient and sustainable, respond to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
* Formazione
* Impatto sul territorio.

The project includes a so-called proof of concept (PoC) in an operational environment (Technology Readiness Level 7) to demonstrate the feasibility of the identified solutions, define a prototype for the integration of networks and services in proximity contexts, collect a significant dataset, useful in the advancement of artificial intelligence models.

According to the principles of Open Science and FAIR Data, the project results will be published and made accessible in open-source format, promoting collaboration between scientific communities, start-ups and SMEs. The datasets generated during the PoC will be made available with the least possible restrictions, in compliance with the principle “as open as possible, as closed as necessary”. This approach will favor the adoption and development of new technologies based on Bluetooth.

Manifesto

“SUNS” - Secure Ubiquitous Networks and Services

  • Ricerca
  • Sperimentazione
  • Trasferimento tecnologico
  • Formazione
  • Impatto sul territorio.
